Landscape Architect | Rapid City, SD

The Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for beautifying, operating and maintaining park and recreation assets (parks, trails and recreation facilities) as well as implementing year-round recreation programs for all ages. The Department is also responsible for park maintenance and the City's urban forest. It is the mission of the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department to make Rapid City a better place to live, work and play. The Landscape Architect is responsible for performing Landscape Architectural and Park Planning analysis, designing, administering contracts, and managing projects for the Parks and Recreation Captial Improvement Plan. This project manager role collaborates closely with executive management within the Parks and Recreation Department, the City, and other stakeholders to provide results driven by the CIP and other municipal codes, goals, and measures assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Park Management, Horticulture or a closely related field; Two years of related experience in landscape architecture or park planning; Must possess a valid driver's license or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire; Software: Skills with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud products, and Microsoft Office preferred. A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.

 

 
 
 

Mid-Level Landscape Architect | Denver or Madison

Are you a landscape architect or designer interested in parks, recreation and open space projects? Do you enjoy collaborating with other passionate landscape architects, as well as professionals from multiple disciplines, as you advance your career? Do you have a passion for connecting communities with nature?

We’re looking to hire a creative, mid-level individual with a strong landscape architectural foundation; an interest and understanding of design drawings; a love for continuous learning and problem-solving; and the ability to coordinate with clients for our landscape architecture team. This individual will contribute as a landscape architect on a variety of different types of projects around the Midwest and across the nation. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaboration with multiple disciplines, clients, and the public

  • Growing into or serving as a project manager for projects of varying scales

  • Implementation of design ideas from conceptual planning phases through design detailing and construction administration

  • Site analysis that considers the broad economic, social, ecological, and aesthetic considerations of a place

Skills & Strengths

It would be even better if you have:

  • Experience with business development for a landscape architecture and planning practice

  • Experience in various stages of project pursuits including opportunity tracking, proposal writing, and interviewing

  • Spanish or other foreign language abilities.

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Story Map, Lumion (or other rendering software), or Deltek Vision.
